On December 19, 2025, Sigma Engineering JSC was honored and proud to attend the groundbreaking ceremony of the Soc Trang 7 Nearshore Wind Farm – Phase 2, officially opening the next development stage of a key renewable energy project in the Mekong Delta region, contributing to the realization of Vietnam’s energy transition and sustainable development strategy.

The ceremony was held solemnly with the presence of leaders of Can Tho City, representatives of departments, agencies, and local authorities, along with the leadership of Xuan Cau Holding, ST2 Energy JSC – the Project Investor, and partner organizations.

Speaking at the event, Mr. To Duy – Chairman of the Board of Directors of ST2 Energy JSC – emphasized the outstanding advantages of the project area, which enjoys favorable natural conditions with a coastline of approximately 72 km, mainly concentrated in coastal and nearshore areas, offering stable wind potential suitable for large-scale nearshore wind development. In addition, the continuously increasing demand for electricity and the ongoing investment, upgrading, and construction of the power grid have created a solid foundation for the effective implementation and operation of renewable energy projects in the region.

The Soc Trang 7 Nearshore Wind Farm is implemented over an area of approximately 90 hectares of nearshore waters and 3 hectares of onshore land, with a total investment of nearly VND 5,700 billion and a total designed capacity of 120 MW. Phase 2 of the project involves the installation of 19 wind turbines with a capacity of 90 MW, with an estimated annual electricity output of approximately 275 million kWh. The project not only meets the electricity demand for socio-economic development but also clearly demonstrates Can Tho City’s determination toward green design, green growth, and gradually reduced dependence on fossil energy sources.
