Accelerating on Site: Soc Trang 7 – Phase 2 Reaches Milestone of 6 Turbine Foundations and First Concrete Pour

16/04/2026

Following the groundbreaking ceremony on December 19, 2025, the Soc Trang Nearshore Wind Farm No. 7 – Phase 2 project quickly entered the construction phase with a strong sense of urgency and determination. After nearly four months of implementation, the project has achieved its first major milestone on site.

On April 15, 2026, Soc Trang 7 – Phase 2 officially completed mass piling works for 6 turbine foundations and commenced the first concrete pouring for the foundation pile cap. This marks a significant milestone, representing the transition from foundation treatment to structural construction, and setting the stage for accelerating overall project progress in the upcoming phases.

This achievement builds directly on the success of Phase 1 – the first nearshore wind farm project in Soc Trang where Sigma served as the BOP contractor, completed and commissioned after just one year of rapid construction. With a capacity of 30MW and a total investment of VND 1,500 billion, Phase 1 not only met its schedule despite challenging nearshore conditions, but also demonstrated Sigma’s capabilities in construction management, resource coordination, and safety control. This solid foundation of experience has enabled Phase 2 to be executed in a structured, proactive, and efficient manner from the outset.

Soc Trang Nearshore Wind Farm No. 7 – Phase 2 is three times larger in scale, comprising 19 wind turbines with a total installed capacity of 90MW, and an expected annual output of approximately 275 million kWh. Located in a coastal area with complex geological conditions and significant weather impacts, foundation construction remains one of the most critical components, requiring high technical standards and strict quality control.

The completion of piling works for 6 foundations and the commencement of the first pile cap concrete pour not only demonstrate strong construction organization, but also highlight the effective coordination among all project stakeholders. Each activity has been carefully prepared and executed in strict compliance with technical and safety standards, especially under the challenging and dynamic nearshore construction environment.

The milestone achieved on April 15 represents not only progress in schedule, but also validates the project’s well-structured implementation approach. Building on this momentum, Sigma will continue to accelerate subsequent construction activities, working toward the goal of commercial operation by November 2026.

Once completed, Soc Trang Nearshore Wind Farm No. 7 – Phase 2 will supply over 275 million kWh of clean electricity annually to the national grid, contributing significantly to energy security, CO₂ emission reduction, and sustainable development. It also further reinforces Sigma’s capability and reputation as a leading EPC contractor for large-scale nearshore wind projects in Vietnam.
