Sigma Joins DT5.1 at the Dau Tieng 5 Solar Power Project – A New Milestone in the Journey Toward Green Energy

On August 4, 2026, at Dau Tieng Reservoir in Tay Ninh Province, the Dau Tieng 5 Solar Power Project officially broke ground. With an installed capacity of 450 MW, a total investment of VND 7.774 trillion, and a footprint of approximately 645 hectares across the reservoir’s semi-submerged area, the project is currently the largest solar power project in the province by installed capacity, marking another significant milestone in Vietnam’s renewable energy development journey.

With an installed capacity of 450 MW, a total investment of VND 7.774 trillion, and a footprint of approximately 645 hectares across the reservoir’s semi-submerged area, the project is currently the largest solar power project in the province by installed capacity, marking another significant milestone in Vietnam’s renewable energy development journey.

As part of this milestone, Sigma Engineering JSC is participating alongside its partners in the project’s contractor consortium, including PowerChina and Hoang Lien Son. For Sigma, Dau Tieng 5 is more than a large-scale energy project; it represents another important step in demonstrating the company’s construction capabilities and project execution expertise in the renewable energy sector.

Notably, at Dau Tieng 5, Sigma has once again been entrusted by DT5.1 Energy JSC – a member company of Xuan Cau Holdings and the project’s Investor. This marks a meaningful continuation following Sigma’s collaboration with Xuan Cau at the Soc Trang 7 Wind Power Plant – Phases 1 and 2. Sigma’s return to another large-scale energy project not only reflects the strengthening of a long-term partnership but also recognizes the capabilities and tangible results Sigma has established across previous project sites.

Alongside this partnership foundation, Sigma has accumulated extensive practical experience through several renewable energy projects, including the Ben Tre and Soc Trang wind power projects. These projects have enabled Sigma to progressively master the specific requirements of renewable energy construction – from site organization and schedule control to the coordination of complex technical scopes. This experience also provides an important foundation for Sigma to further expand its capabilities into large-scale solar power projects such as Dau Tieng 5.

At the Dau Tieng 5 Solar Power Project – Zone 2, Sigma is responsible for the BOP package with a total capacity of 164.22 MW, covering approximately 170 hectares of semi-submerged land on Dau Tieng Reservoir. The scope of work includes detailed construction drawings, method statements, procurement of materials, construction, commissioning, testing and completion of the assigned works.

Sigma’s scope encompasses a wide range of critical components of the solar power plant, including pile installation; mounting structure and photovoltaic module installation; inverter installation; installation of 15 MVS skid-mounted substations; SCADA systems; DC, LV, MV and fiber-optic cables; CCTV; fire protection systems; weather stations; lighting; lightning protection; internal grounding; internal roads; as well as inspection, testing and acceptance works within the assigned scope.

The scale of the package is reflected in several significant figures: 47,905 PHC pile points, 357 inverters, 280,488 photovoltaic modules and 15 MVS skid-mounted substations. Behind these figures lies a substantial volume of work, requiring close coordination among multiple construction fronts and the ability to maintain synchronized control from foundations and structures through to the electrical systems.

For a solar power plant, the challenge lies not only in the sheer volume of work. The true value of construction lies in transforming hundreds of thousands of individual components into a single integrated, safe and stable power generation system. From piles, mounting structures and PV modules to inverters, substations, cabling and SCADA, every stage is closely interconnected with the next.

The pile system must provide a stable foundation for the entire structure; PV modules must be installed and connected with precision; electricity is converted through 357 inverters, consolidated through the skid-mounted substations, transmitted via the MV system and monitored through the control system. Only when all these components operate as one integrated system can the plant fully deliver its intended investment value.

The specific conditions of construction across 170 hectares of semi-submerged land on Dau Tieng Reservoir further raise the requirements for site organization and execution planning. From foundations, site preparation, transportation and equipment reception to the sequencing of individual work packages, every stage must be carefully planned in accordance with actual site conditions. The 47,905 PHC pile points alone will be installed through multiple construction phases, followed by the simultaneous deployment of mounting structures, PV modules, inverters, DC cables, skid-mounted substations and associated electrical systems.

This is a complex undertaking that requires the ability to coordinate multiple construction fronts simultaneously, maintain strict control over materials, equipment, manpower and schedules, while ensuring stringent quality and safety requirements. For a large-scale energy project, schedule performance is not simply about completing work on time; it is also about ensuring that every technical link is executed with sufficient precision so that, once the entire system is connected, the plant can operate safely and reliably over the long term.

The significance of Dau Tieng 5 extends beyond the boundaries of a single power project. With a capacity of 450 MW, once completed, the plant will provide a substantial additional supply of clean electricity to the national grid, contributing to energy demand for socio-economic development and supporting Vietnam’s transition toward a greener, cleaner and more sustainable energy system.

Developing solar power on the semi-submerged area of Dau Tieng Reservoir also places a strong emphasis on environmental responsibility. Construction activities must be organized in harmony with natural conditions, minimizing impacts on water resources and ecosystems. This is an increasingly important requirement for the next generation of energy infrastructure: generating clean electricity while ensuring that projects are developed responsibly toward the environment and surrounding communities.

For Sigma, Dau Tieng 5 represents the convergence of continued trust built through previous collaborations and capabilities accumulated across numerous renewable energy projects. From Soc Trang 7 to wind power projects such as Ben Tre, each construction site has presented different challenges, enabling Sigma’s teams to continuously strengthen their capabilities in project organization, construction execution and project management within the energy sector.

Dau Tieng 5 is not simply another new project; it is a new milestone in Sigma’s journey of building and expanding its capabilities in renewable energy. The Developer’s continued trust recognizes the results Sigma has delivered across previous construction sites, while also bringing greater responsibility: to consistently meet increasingly demanding requirements for quality, schedule, safety and overall project efficiency.

Today, Dau Tieng 5 begins with the first pile-driving works. Yet behind those first piles lies the experience accumulated through numerous projects, the trust built through tangible results, and the dedication of engineers who are working day by day to transform a project on paper into a tangible energy facility.

As rows of solar panels gradually spread across the semi-submerged land of Dau Tieng Reservoir, capturing natural sunlight and converting it into clean energy – contributing electricity to manufacturing plants, urban developments, data centers and logistics hubs taking shape during Vietnam’s new era of growth – it will also mark the moment when another chapter in Sigma’s journey toward creating a greener energy future is written.
